Carvin Seder Communications offers consulting and creative services to a diverse client base including political candidates, corporations, government agencies, professional associations, advocacy groups and museums. With offices in New Orleans and Washington, DC, we develop and implement strategic plans, create communications programs, craft messages, produce media campaigns, place media advertising, design rapid response mechanisms, provide counsel for public relations and community outreach, develop grass roots lobbying materials and serve as diligent advocates for our clients’ best interests. The three founding partners were Jim Carvin, Karen Carvin Shachat and Deno Seder. Often called the "dean of Louisiana political consultants" with a win record over 80%, Jim passed away in 2009. Karen Carvin Shachat Karen began her career in advertising working with local ad agencies in New Orleans followed by a move to New York to work with national agencies (Benton & Bowles, Ted Bates and Ally and Gargano). While in New York, Karen worked on Coors Light Beer, Fiat Motors, Nyquil and Vicks Cough Drops and Scholl Footcare Products. At Ally and Gargano, she was the account executive on Federal Express where she won the Gold Effie for Advertising Effectiveness for the 1984 Federal Express campaign. Karen returned to New Orleans in 1984 and joined Bauerlein Inc. as vice president. While there, she won the New York Art Directors Club 1988 merit award for a television commercial for 10-K. She started her own firm, Carvin Consulting in 1990, offering strategic consulting and media services to political candidates, as well as to public and private sector clients. She was recently featured in the documentary film "Race" by Katherine Cecil about the successful re-election of New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina. She was a key strategist in the campaign. Deno Seder Deno Seder has worked on hundreds of political campaigns as a media consultant. He has also produced films, videos and media campaigns for corporate and government clients such as VISA, Sun Microsystems, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Burger King, UPS, Coca-Cola, the United States Mint, Discovery Communications and the National Cancer Institute. He started his own firm, Deno Seder Productions in 1976 in New Orleans and relocated to Washington, DC in 1980. Deno pioneered the use of humor in political advertising and has been honored with many awards for creativity, including the Clio, the Oscar® of the advertising industry, and top awards at several international film festivals including the Chicago and Houston Film Festivals, the Paris Art Film Biennial and the Berlin Film and Video Festival. In 2007, Deno received the "Best of Show" award at the Houston Film Festival.
